Notice of Intended Marriage

Updated May 2026

I specialise in simple ceremonies at any wedding, any size, any time, any day, at any local venue, with any number of guests. (You must have two guests, minimum. They need to be adults who understand English. Can be your relatives. You don't need to know your witnesses personally, if you're planning to elope. I can help here).

I call the  ceremonies I conduct: 'Beautifully simple and simply beautiful'.

If you'd like to visit my blog, where you'll find lots of information about getting married in the ACT and surrounds, and getting married in Australia in general, click here. My latest wedding news and photos are on my Instagram and Facebook pages. I've also put some photos on Pinterest.

My fee is simply $700.

(But there'd be extra for travel to a wedding in the country, past the local Canberra/Queanbeyan area, or at the coast or in the mountains.)

2026 Update for ACT weddings:
The Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages has a portal on Access Canberra. Contact me and I'll send your info to the portal. You'll get a link by phone or email. Fill in your details for your Notice of Intended Marriage and Save.

After your wedding, you can check the progress of your registration with the Registrar's office. You can buy an official certificate through the portal and it will be sent to you by registered post.

If you choose to use the portal, I'll have a printed copy of your Notice, ready for our meeting. You must still sign your Notice of Intended Marriage, live, with an attending witness.

Or:
You can fill in the Notice online and print it, or download and print, then fill in by hand. If you need to email or MMS the Notice to me because you want to marry ASAP, I'll print a copy to use at our meeting.

BTW
The Marriage Act has been amended to permanently provide couples with the option to have their Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) witnessed in person (as usual) or remotely by means of a facility that enables audio and visual communication between persons in different places, like Zoom or Facetime. (But only if you're both in Australia.)

There are 5 pages altogether. Two pages are notes to be read before filling in the form.
Pages 3 to 5 are lodged with your celebrant.

Your Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged with the celebrant of your choice at least one calendar month before your wedding. *

* I hope your choice is me 😊
